White Knights
Battle
upon battle
uni-formed warriors,
heroes violently “liberating”
distant others
With horse-power,
wind, or water
they approach
growling, Hands up!
Victoriously
breathing fire
like dragons
they (un)knowingly
become...
Smoke signals
imaginary adversaries,
windmills waving surrender...
quest after quest
coloring perspectives
Native hues lost
in the shadow of
(honorable) intent...
concluding
“the good guys
always win.”

*Windmill references the literary tale of Don Quixote de La Mancha, a Spanish novel written in the 1600s, in which the main character believes he is living a knightly story, on a “Noble Quest,” but it was all in his deluded mind (he saw windmills as dragons needing slaying.) Many lessons within.
