No Plan(et) B

Will we see more Yuletides, 

celebrate light, rising ... 

that star we named “Sun” 

emanating familiar (familial)

warmth?

Will we marvel at the solstice,

hours counting down 

winters end, again

giving thanks for Earthly 

rebirth?

Or...

Will we despair at its impact, 

Cast blame (credit) skyward 

per tradition, cursing 

the rising tides, 

yet claiming no hand 

in the flood?

Like so many sinners

kneeling in confession,

will we ignore the solution

within ourselves, begging  

King Fate to 

save us?
