Mother of Exiles

Her children 

carry burning torches

mirroring her

in all but intention

Unlike hers 

the fire within burns 

not a welcoming 

But a threat...

No Vacancy!

Heartbroken, 

she watches the storm 

white lightening raging 

over soil stained 

with ancestral blood

blood spilled from 

the exiled bodies

of every color. 

In the name
of freedom.

Longing to cradle each 

once more, she cries

"You belong."
